Coming from São Paulo:

By Bus:
Find the bus company Reunidas Paulista Tietê terminal bus station.
The company has at least three daily trips to Angra dos Reis scheduled for low season.

By Car:
Take road BR 101, the one in better conditions to enter Angra. You could also take Via Dutra and go down though Taubaté or Barra Mansa, but as far as I know these roads are not so well maintained.

If you are coming from Paraty, you could go to the bus station and take the bus Reunidas Paulistas coming from Sao Paulo or a bus Paraty-Angra from the company Colitur that provides many daily services.

Coming from Rio de Janeiro:

By Bus:
Find the bus company Costa Verde at the bus terminal Novo Rio. This company travels to Angra or Paray every 40 minutes approx.
If you decided to take the bus to Paraty, remember to ask first if the bus enters Angra’s terminal station. Otherwise you will have to get out on the road, at the entrance of Angra and take a local bus to enter the city.
The local bus has a stop at Igreja do Carmo, in front of the port (Cais dos Pescadores) where you have to take the boat towards the island.

By Car:
If you are driving from Rio, the road is in good conditions but quite sinuous, so pay special attention to traffic, especially during rainy days. Once at Cais dos Pescadores you can leave the car at the pier’s parking lot. You will need to find the trailer do Maguinho located there and leave the car keys.
There is another parking four blocks away where you can leave the car and keep your keys. According to previous experiences both parking are said to be safe.

READY TO BOARD ?

Once at Cais dos Pescadores you shall ask for boats towards Praia Grande de Araçatiba.
Pay attention because there is many boats going towards Abraão and some opportunist might tell you that Abraão is close to Araçatiba, but there is a 23 km distance with no regular transportation to get here.
Our commune playa Grande de Araçatiba has two daily boats coming from Angra, at 9 hrs. and 14 hrs.

You can tell the crew that you would like to get out at cais de la Praia da Cachoeira (it is next to Araçatiba). We will be waiting at the pier, to welcome you and help you with your luggage.
